In the lead up to the 2021 Victorian duck season, We will be keeping everyone updated with the latest duck season reports, including wetland/swamp water levels, duck counts, and wetland closures.
Lake Toolondo, Horsham. Low water this season making most parts on the lake wadeable, Only a few small mobs of teal and a few black ducks were recorded over the weekend. Water level 8%
-Currently the lake has blue-green algae.
Taylors Lake Horsham, Still holding a good amount of water, most of the lake can be accessed by boat, few mobs of teal, wood ducks, and black ducks were recorded over the weekend Water level 50%
Hirds Swamp, Kerang. Low water making it still wadeable in parts, reports were that it was going to receive a top up later on this month, very low duck numbers only a few mobs of Teal, pink eared ducks, and black ducks were recorded.
Cairn Curran Reservoir, Open lake most ducks were noticed out in the middle, A few mobs of Teal, black duck and pink ear were recorded. Water level 38%
Lake Merderduke Winchelsea, Open lake with very limited cover, a few large mobs of mountain ducks recorded on the lake and in the fields around it over the weekend.
Lake Burrumbeet, Ballarat. Still holing a good amount of water, a boat is required to access most hunt able parts of the lake, Good mobs of teal, black ducks and a few mountain ducks were reported. Water level 68%
Lake Bolac, Still holding a good amount of water, most of the ducks we recorded were on the north end of the lake, a good amount of ducks including teal, black ducks, mountain ducks, hard head and wood ducks were recorded over the weekend.
Dowds Morass, Gippsland. Still holding a good amount of water after recent rainfall most parts can be waded or accessed by boat, Good mobs of teal, black ducks and mountain ducks were reported.
